Next year's bands and concerts

25th Nov 2005

Didmarton Bluegrass Festival 2006 is promising to be a memorable event. Negotiations are underway with several great bands including a major American name. All will be revealed soon!

Our booking policy is to invite bands that have seen less exposure on the British scene to give our audience a new perspective and to stage music from different backgrounds to provide variety. Most styles represented have a connection with music from across the Atlantic. This can include blues, country, old time and other associated sounds from North America. We are also keen to promote sounds from the British Isles on the basis that the roots of American folk music came from here in the first place.

The format for the concerts is loosely planned to themes. Friday is more "rootsy" and Saturday afternoon is devoted to new bands and folk. The Saturday night is sacrosanct, the best bluegrass we can stage! Sunday winds down a little with acts that reflect the relaxed mood of the final day.

There will be a full programme of workshops covering all the instruments played in bluegrass music.

An initial list of bands and workshop leaders will be published early in 2006. Sign up to our mailing list and be the first to hear the news.
