We have lift off

31st Aug 2005

The committee is on its way to Kemble. The weather forecast is for SUNSHINE ALL THE WAY with light breezes. Daytime Temperatures will range from 21 to 25 degrees throughout the weekend and the nights should be cool and balmy (barmy?) Probably both! Anyway - don't forget to bring your sun tan lotion, a sun hat, plenty of water to drink and something warm to wear at night - just in case. We look forward to seeing you all there and having a fantastic time.

We are just over a week away from the festival now and we are about ready to roll. All the bands are confirmed, the equipment hire companies are on stand-by to deliver the marquees, staging, lighting rig, toilets, etc. and the committee are ready to work towards making your visit to the festival a memorable experience!

Even the long term weather forecast is good. Warm and dry weather with seasonally average temperatures is predicted. Not so hot as last year but the conditions should be just about right for a great festival.

The site is open from Thursday and we must vacate by Monday lunchtime. The bar will be open from Thursday night and the lads from OGRI Motorcycle Club will ready to greet us with their selection of great value beer!

We have discussed the issue of barbeques with the airfield fire officer and the previous ban on charcoal barbeques has now been lifted. We do urge all campers to exercise caution when using camping stoves and open barbeques. Whilst on the subject of site amenities, we have hired double the amount of portable toilets this year and they will be cleaned on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

We have a new team of caterers aptly named “Stuff You” who will be offering a selection of good value food throughout the festival. The selection and prices will similar to last year.

This year, we are introducing a festival merchandising stall where you will be able to purchase CDs and other material on offer by the bands who are performing on stage. We have also produced some Didmarton Bluegras Festival case stickers. Buy one...or two...or three!

We hope you come in your millions and have a really good time at Didmarton this year and we would also like to hear from you afterwards. Tell us about your experience, make suggestions, tell us what bands you would like to see in the future.

We have made this easy for you by creating a Didmarton Bluegrass Message board. All you have to do is join and you can then post messages to the group for everybody to see including all the festival committee members. This facility will also be very useful to keep you up to date with developments throughout the year.

To join the group, log onto the Didmarton mailing list website and click on the "join" button. We hope many of will take up this opportunity to stay in touch.

Finally, if you are coming, we look forward to seeing at Kemble. Everybody's in for a treat and we have "THE BEST PICKING LINE UP Y'ALL SEE THIS YEAR!"
